Imagine these children saving the environment!

Image
Today I spent time with children, listening to them, learning from them, and trying to understand their world. In this digital age, things are changing very fast, and I keep asking myself: what really works best for them? These children are full of dreams, curiosity, and energy. But many of them are still left behind when it comes to digital skills, especially compared to those studying in urban areas. This is the gap we must close. I am taking time to observe, to ask questions, and to understand what they truly need so we can design solutions that fit their reality. Not just bringing technology, but making it meaningful, simple, and accessible for them. Every child deserves a fair chance to learn, explore, and grow in this digital world. And I am committed to being part of that journey.

Adolescent girls need to be empowered

Image
In Omugo, adolescent girls represent the highest number of school dropouts. Many face challenges that prevent them from continuing their education, leaving them with limited opportunities to thrive. At Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA), we are committed to empowering these adolescents—helping them stay in school and providing alternative pathways for those who have dropped out. Through skills development, mentorship, and community support, we aim to create opportunities for them to build a better future. We invite donors and partners to join us in this mission. By supporting these adolescents today, we are investing in a generation of confident, skilled, and resilient young women. #YouthEmpowerment #GirlsEducation #AdolescentDevelopment #DILA #Omugo #InvestInGirls

Adolescents receive life skills training

Image
Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA), in partnership with Danish Refugee Council (DRC), officially launched Life Skills Training for School Dropouts in Omugo, Rhino camp refugee settlement and the response was incredible. Dozens of adolescent boys and girls showed up on the first day of orientation, each carrying a story, a struggle, and a dream for a better future. For many of these young people, leaving school was not a choice. It was the result of poverty, displacement, and difficult life circumstances. But today, they were given something powerful! another chance to learn, grow, and rebuild their confidence. To ensure every voice is heard and every learner gets proper attention, the adolescents will be organized into smaller learning groups. This will allow for meaningful discussions, stronger mentorship, and a safe space where young people can freely express themselves. Through this program, they will gain critical life skills, confidence, and knowledge to help them...

Investing in Youth Potential: How DILA Is Driving Digital Empowerment in Omugo

Image
Across rural and refugee-hosting communities in Uganda, young people are facing a growing gap between their abilities and the skills demanded by today’s digital economy.  In Omugo Sub-county, West Nile Region, unemployment, limited access to technology, and lack of digital exposure continue to restrict youth from reaching their full potential. The Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA) was established to respond to this gap—practically, locally, and with the youth at the center of every solution. Through the Digital Innovation and Skills Acceleration for Youth Empowerment (DISAYE) Project, DILA is equipping young people with relevant digital skills that improve employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and promote self-reliance. Delivering Impact Despite Limited Resources DILA is currently implementing the DISAYE Project without a funding partner. The organization relies on internal contributions, volunteer support, and limited shared resources. While this presents si...

Online safety awareness session

Image
DILA successfully held an online safety awareness session reaching over 50 youth from both refugee and host communities in Omugo zone, Rhino camp Refugees settlement, Terego district--Uganda. Youth were guided on responsible social media use and the risks of sharing false information, cyberbullying, and online conflicts. Many young people misuse social media simply because they lack guidance. Through this campaign, DILA encouraged youth to use social media positively—to connect with employers and educators, learn new skills, and showcase their talents, instead of using it for insults or online fights. The youth appreciated the session and requested DILA to continue such awareness so more young people can learn how to stay safe online. DILA is currently working with refugee and host community youth in Omugo, with plans to expand to other zones in Rhino Camp. 💚 Together, we can build a safer digital space for young people.  #ThinkBeforeYouClick #OnlineSafety ...

DILA takes a Lead in Changing Mindsets for a Self-Reliant Community

Image
DILA Takes the Lead in Changing Mindsets for a Self-Reliant Community Unemployment and poverty continue to affect both the refugee and host communities in our region. Many young people are still waiting for ready-made jobs, yet the world today demands creativity, skills, and the courage to create opportunities for ourselves. As the Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA), we believe that real change begins with mindset transformation. That is why we have taken it upon ourselves to inspire and empower our community—especially the youth—to start thinking differently about opportunities. Yesterday, during a stakeholders meeting, one of the community leaders emphasized the same need. The leader encouraged DILA to closely engage the youth so they can become more self-reliant and confident in their abilities. This message is a strong reminder that the future of our community depends on how empowered our young people become today. At DILA, we are committed to helping youth discove...
